Clermont, sometimes known as Gem of the Hills is a suburb about 30 miles west of Orlando, Florida with an estimated population of over 13,000. This number is misleading, however, because more than half of the area residents live in unincorporated Lake Country surrounding Clermont. Many residents are attracted to Clermont because of its small-town atmosphere and it's rolling hills (a rarity in Florida). Originally surrounded by orange groves, several freezes forced most orange growers south about 20 years ago. However, there are still numerous orchards in the area. The Clermont Citrus Tower can be viewed from miles away. Clermont is home for many marathons and the National Training Center is located adjacent to South Lake Hospital.
